THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for their specific printer model. The Q7551X is a physically larger cartridge so it may not fit or recognize in all printers that use the Q7751A.
There is a smart chip located on the top back of the cartridge. Check the chip for damage or debris. A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to clean the two gold contacts.
Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and that it is fully inserted to make sure the chip is making contact with the printer sensors. There is a groove inside the printer that the cartridge tracks with to ensure that it goes in correctly.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge which must be removed prior to installation. It is important that this pull tape seal is completely removed. If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably has not been removed or broke off inside the cartridge while being removed.
Grasp both sides of the print cartridge and distribute the toner by gently rocking the print cartridge.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter. Lift the shutter to view the OPC drum. Do NOT touch the drum. Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum.
