THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.

Not Fitting

The Q6511X is the high capacity version of the Q6511A toner cartridge.  However, not all printers that use the Q6511A may be able to use the Q6511X.  The Q6511X is a physically larger cartridge than the Q6511A.  Verify with the printer’s user guide to see which cartridges that printer is compatible with.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

There’s a smart chip located on the back of the toner cartridge which has two gold connection points.  Make sure the chip is clean and undamaged.  You can use a dry, clean, lint-free cloth to clean the connections.

Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed and fully inserted.

Print Quality Issues

There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that this seal is completely removed.

The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge covered by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the shutter up to view the drum.  Do NOT touch the OPC drum.  You can use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.

Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently rock the cartridge back and forth a few times to redistribute the toner inside the cartridge.

There is a cleaning function on the printer.  However, this should only be given to the customers who are experiencing minor specks and dots on the page and they are on their 2nd cartridge. For bad print quality issues or streaking the problem is most likely with the cartridge rather than the printer and a new cartridge should be reshipped instead of attempting this.  To do the cleaning;

1. If your printer model includes a duplexer, open the rear output bin.

2. Press MENU to open the menus.

3. Use (UP button) or (DOWN button) to scroll to CONFIGURE DEVICE, and then press (SELECT button).

4. Use (UP button) or (DOWN button) to scroll to PRINT QUALITY, and then press (SELECT button).

5. Use (UP button) or (DOWN button) to scroll to CREATE CLEANING PAGE, and then press (SELECT button).

6. Follow the instructions on the cleaning page to complete the cleaning process.
