THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUMS INTEGRATED INTO THE CARTRIDGE. THERE ARE SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, INDIVIDUAL DRUM UNITS FOR EACH COLOR.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.
These cartridges do not use a smart chip. Instead there is a window on the cartridge that works with an optical sensor in the printer to visually check the toner amount in the cartridge. Try shaking the toner cartridge to make sure the toner powder is evenly distributed inside the cartridge. Also, make sure the window found on the back of the cartridge is free of debris.
Make sure the cartridges are installed correctly and fully locked into position. There is a lever on the cartridge that must be pushed forward until it stops. Make sure this lever is fully locked forward.
The toner cartridges install into a peg on the left side. Insert the cartridge, left side first, engaging the drum locating peg in the hole in the toner cartridge. The color order from front to back is Black, Yellow, Magenta, and Cyan.
Print Quality Issues
It is important that you clean the LED heads on your printer after installing new cartridges. The LED heads are found under the top cover of the printer. You will want to use a soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the LED heads. If you do not clean the LED heads then you may experience white streaks or faded prints. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL OR SOLVENTS AS THIS WILL DAMAGE THE LED HEAD.
There is a tape seal on the side of the cartridge as well as one located on the bottom of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation. Make sure both of these have been removed.
Make sure the lever is in the unlock position and the shutter is closed on the cartridge, then shake it back and forth several times to redistribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.
Almost all ghosting, lines, streaking, and repetitive image defects will be an issue with the drum unit. There is an individual drum unit for each color and usually after around 4-6 toner changes the drum will need to be replaced. We do not currently carry replacement drums.
