THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific model printer.
There is a smart chip located on the front of the toner cartridge. Check to make sure the gold contacts are not damaged or dirty. You can use a Q-Tip or lint-free cloth to gently dry wipe the connections.
Make sure the cartridge is installed fully and correctly. If the cartridge is not properly seated then the chip will not make proper contact with the printer sensor.
Poor Print Quality
There’s a plastic pull seal tape on the side of the cartridge that must be fully removed before installing the cartridge. It is very important that this pull tape is fully removed. There’s also a piece of tape on the top of the cartridge that has to be removed. Please ensure all sealing tape has been removed from the cartridge.
Grabbing the cartridge by its ends, gently rock the toner left to right a few times to distribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.
The OPC drum is located on the back of the toner cartridge. You will need to lift a spring loaded plastic cover to view the OPC drum. Be careful not to touch the OPC drum unit. Visually check for any scratches or debris. You can use a soft lint-free cloth to gently wipe the OPC drum.
On HP Color Laserjet 2600 series printers there’s a cleaning you can do via the printer. To do this;
- On the printer’s control panel, press the Setup button.
- Press the right arrow ( ) to highlight Service, and then press OK.
- Press the right arrow ( ) to highlight Cleaning Mode, and then press OK.
- When prompted, load copier-grade paper (not bond, heavy, or rough paper), and then press OK.
A CLEANING message appears on the printer control panel display while the cleaning is taking place. The cleaning process takes a few minutes to complete. Do not turn the printer off until the cleaning process has finished.
A page will be printed when the task is complete. Discard the page.
You might need to repeat the cleaning process to thoroughly clean the printer. Print a few more pages to see if the problem is resolved.
