THESE TONER CARTRDIGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM INTEGRATED.  THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.

There is a smart chip on the front of the cartridge.  Check the chip for damage or debris.  A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to clean the two gold contacts.

Check that the cartridge is installed correctly and that it is in the correct color slot.  The cartridges install into a rotating carousel inside the printer.  You choose the color you want to access by pressing the ROTATE CAROUSEL button  until the desired cartridge is in the access position.

The cartridge is installed by holding the cartridge by the blue release levers (on the front of the cartridge) and lowering the cartridge down until it is firmly in place.  Verify the right color is installed into the correct slot by checking to make sure the label on the cartridge matches the label on the slot you are installing into on the printer.

Once the cartridge is installed you will need to close the top cover and press the GO  button so that it reads and prepares the new cartridge.

Print Quality Issues

There is an orange, plastic cover on the front of the cartridge and a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation.  There is also a piece of black paper held on by tape that is covering the rubber roller on the cartridge that must be removed.  It is important that the pull tape seal is fully removed from the cartridge.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably has not been removed or broke off inside the cartridge while it was being pulled out.

The OPC drum is not integrated into the cartridge.  The drum unit is a separate maintenance item.  These cartridges distribute the toner powder using a rubber roller onto the drum unit.  You visually inspect the rubber roller on the front of the cartridge for cracks, damage, or debris.  Do NOT clean the rubber roller on the cartridge.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind on the toner cartridge.

Ghosting, streaking, lines, and repetitive image defects are usually an issue with the drum unit.  The drum is a maintenance item and will need to be replaced usually after 4-6 toner changes.  We do sell a replacement drum unit.
