THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE IMAGING DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer.
There is a smart chip located on the front of the cartridge. Check the chip for damage or debris. You can use a Q-tip to reach and clean the four gold contacts.
Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and is fully inserted into the printer.
Samsung has a reputation of doing stealth firmware updates, where they disguise a firmware update as a routine update. A firmware update may lock out the use of aftermarket cartridges. Usually when a firmware updates goes through cartridges that were once working will no longer read and/or a cartridge gives an incompatible error and you try others (reships, multiples in the same order, etc) which also won’t recognize. We recommend not updating your printer’s software and firmware when using our cartridges to prevent them from being locked out.
Print Quality Issues
There is a piece of paper held on by tape that covers the outside of the cartridge and protects the OPC drum. This piece of paper must be removed prior to installation.
Holding both sides of the cartridge, thoroughly rock it from side to side to evenly distribute the toner.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge. Do NOT touch the drum. Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris. A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the OPC drum. Care must be taken while handling the cartridge as there is no plastic shutter protecting the OPC drum on the bottom so it can easily be nicked or scratched when set on surfaces or handled.
