Print Quality Issues

Sometimes there may be pieces of protective tape or an orange plastic protective clip that must be removed before installation.  NOTE:  There is also what appears to be a black clip, do NOT attempt to remove this. (refer to pic)

The print heads are built into the cartridge itself.  Take a warm damp paper towel or coffee filter and blot the cartridge with the print heads facing down onto the paper towel to remove the dried ink on the print head.   Then, taking a DRY paper towel or coffee filter, hold the cartridge down against the paper towel for 2-3 minutes.  A dry paper towel will wick the ink out.  Do not wipe the print head as this may cause damage.

The postage meter also has a print head cleaning utility as well that should be used alongside the paper towel method.  To access the print head cleaning do the following;

From Ready Mode, press the Menu key, the MAIN MENU screen will now be observed:

Using the < and > keys, or the appropriate number key, move the cursor to CARTRIDGE and press OK to confirm.

The CARTRIDGE menu will now be observed:

Select the CLEAN option from the list and press OK to start the cleaning cycle.

On completion of the cleaning cycle the screen will revert to the CARTRIDGE menu.

You may now make a test print.

Not Recognizing

It is very important to verify that they have the correct cartridge number for their postage meter.  Double-check to make sure they both ordered and received the correct cartridge for their specific meter.

Remove the cartridge and taking a lint free cloth gently dry wipe the contact points on the side of the cartridge.
