THESE TONER CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE IMAGING DRUM INTEGRATED. THE DRUM UNITS ARE SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEMS. EACH COLOR HAS ITS OWN DRUM UNIT.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.
These cartridges use a RF or radio frequency sensor chip that’s located on the end of each cartridge. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor. Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.
Verify the cartridges are fully locked into place. The arrow shaped cartridge handle should be turned as far as it can go clockwise.
Print Quality Issues
Almost all streaking, lines, ghost imaging, and repetitive print defects will be a result of an issue with that particular color’s drum unit. We do not currently carry the drum units.
Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently rock the cartridge back and forth a few times to evenly distribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.
The printer has a feature built in to print a Printing Quality Test Page to help isolate print quality problems. To print a Printing Quality Test Page;
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Load letter- or A4-size paper in the tray in the long-edge orientation.
3. From the control panel, press and hold √ and > while turning the printer on.
4. Release both buttons when Performing Self Test appears. The printer performs its power-on sequence, and then Config Menu appears.
5. Press the down button until Prt Quality Pgs appears, and then press √.
The pages are formatted. Printing Quality Test Pages appears, and then the pages print. The message remains on the display until all the pages print.
6. After the print quality test pages print, press the down arrow until Exit Config Menu appears, and then press √.
Look at the printed print quality test page to try to determine the print quality defect. Light printing might be the toner powder running low or the cartridge is not fully locked into the printer.
