These toner cartridges do not have the OPC drums built into them.  The drum unit is a separate, replaceable unit.

Not Recognizing

Verify the cartridges are correct for your specific printer.

Make sure the cartridge was installed correctly and is firmly locked in.  For more information on how to install these cartridges please refer to the pictures below;

To remove the old toner cartridge:

1. Open the printer’s front cover.

2. Press and release the toner cartridge rack release button (1) and turn the rack dial counter-clockwise towards (2) until it stops.

3. Remove the old toner and safely discard.

NOTE:  The rack rotates 90° and stops. The toner cartridge rack may start to turn automatically from the weight of the inserted toner cartridge. Make sure you have fully turned to the next slot before trying to insert another toner cartridge.

To install the new toner cartridge:

Each toner cartridge has a colored end that corresponds to a colored label inside the cartridge slots. Always install the toner cartridge in the slot with a label of the same color.

Place the front end of the 2 toner cartridge guides into the 2 cartridge guide rails on the cartridge rack and gently push the cartridge into the printer until it clicks.

Make sure the cartridge is fully inserted. If a toner cartridge doesn’t slide in easily, don’t force it.

For more information you can also refer to the installation guide at the address below;

There’s also a small viewing window on the bottom of the toner that the printer looks into.  Check to see if the toner powder is fully covering the window.

Print Quality Issues

There’s a piece of paper held on by tape that must be removed from the cartridge before installation.

These cartridges do not have the drum unit built-in, the drum is a separate, replaceable item. The cartridges use small rubber rollers to distribute toner onto the OPC drum inside the printer that physically puts the images to paper.

If the customer just installed the toner and is getting excess toner on the page or spots have them print at least 10-15 copies consecutively.  This will help clear out loose toner.

Lines on the paper will mostly likely be caused by scratches on their OPC drum. To verify it is not a cartridge issue, have the customer look at the rubber roller on the cartridge for any lines or damage.

Holding both ends of the toner, try gently rolling the toner cartridge left to right to ensure the toner is even displaced.
