This is a toner cartridge that does NOT have the drum unit built in.  The drum unit is a separate and replaceable unit.

Print Quality Issues

There is a piece of sealing tape that must be removed before installation.  Make sure you don’t twist the locking knobs located on either side of the cartridge until the cartridge is installed in the drum unit as this will release the toner powder.

To help determine print quality issues you can print a printer test page.  To do this;

1  Press {MENU} repeatedly to display “PRINT REPORT”.

2  Press {<} or {>} repeatedly until you get to the “PRINTER TEST” option.

3  Press {SET} to start printing.

4  Press {MENU} to close out once printing has finished.

If there appears to be a lot of toner powder on the page, have the customer remove the toner cartridge from the drum.  With the drum removed from the printer, gently blow any excess toner dust from the drum unit.  Then print at least 10-15 pages consecutively as this will help clear out loose toner.

You can also try gently rolling the toner cartridge from left to right.  Be sure the knobs on the cartridge are in the closed position before attempting or toner leakage may occur.

Lines and ghost images on the page are usually caused by the drum unit.  The drum unit is a maintenance item that will need to be replaced after around 10,000 pages.

Not Fitting

First verify the cartridge is correct for their specific printer.

Make sure the toner cartridge is correctly installed and locked into place.  There are two knobs on both sides of the cartridge that must be turned until the arrows match up to the arrows marked on the drum.
