Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.

These cartridges use a RF or radio frequency sensor chip. This chip does not make physical contact with the printer but rather sits in a specific position to be picked up by the printer’s sensor.  The RF chip is located on the front left side of the cartridge.

Make sure that the cartridge is properly inserted and locks into place to ensure the chip is in the correct position.  Also, be sure you are installing the correct color into the correct slot. If the problem persists it is most likely an issue with the chip on the cartridge.

Print Quality Issues

There are orange plastic covers held on by tape that must be removed prior to installation.

There is also a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that this pull tape seal is fully removed.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal was probably not removed or broke off inside the cartridge when it was being pulled.

Holding the cartridge by its ends, gently roll the cartridge to distribute the toner powder inside the cartridge.

There are built-in print quality troubleshooting pages in the printer that can be used to help diagnose and solve print quality problems.  To access these print quality troubleshooting pages do the following;

1. Press √ to enter the MENUS.

2. Press v  to highlight DIAGNOSTICS.

3. Press √  to select DIAGNOSTICS.

4. Press v  to highlight PQ TROUBLESHOOTING.

5. Press √  to print the pages.

The printer returns to the Ready state after printing the print quality troubleshooting pages.

Check the outputted pages to determine the print quality defects.

The OPC drum is covered by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the spring loaded shutter to view the OPC drum.  Do NOT touch the OPC drum.  Visually inspect the drum for damage or debris.  If need be, a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
