Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.
Our compatible CLP-500 and CLP-510 cartridges are universal and will work in either series printer. The CLP-500 printers use a resistor located in a small connector on the side of the toner cartridge to recognize, where the CLP-510 printers use a chip that connects to four contacts on the side of the toner cartridge to recognize.
Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly and is fully inserted into the printer. When the toner cartridges are correctly installed, the yellow and black cartridge will not be fully inserted. These will automatically move into place when your close the cover.
Verify they have the correct color installed into the correct slot. The slots are color keyed inside the printer to help make sure the right cartridge is being installed.
Order from top to bottom is, Black, Yellow, Magenta, and Cyan.
Print Quality Issues
There is a piece of paper held on by tape which must be removed prior to installation.
Check the outputted pages to see where the image defect is occurring. Try to see if there is a pattern with the defect and a particular color. For example, lines only appears in areas cyan is being used then the cyan cartridge should be checked. However, if the defect is occurring across all colors then the issue may be with the drum unit which is separate.
Ghosting, lines, streaks, and repeating image defects are usually issues with the drum unit.
The cartridges use small rubber rollers to distribute toner powder onto the OPC drum roller in the drum unit that physically puts the images to paper. You can check the rubber rollers on the cartridges themselves for any cracks or defects. Most print problems such as streaking, lines, ghosting, etc., will be an issue with the drum unit which is a separate replaceable item. We do carry the replacement OEM drum
Holding both sides of the toner cartridge, gently roll it from side to side to evenly distribute the toner.
