THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT.  THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.

Not Recognizing

Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.

There is no smart chip on this cartridge so it’s key that the cartridge is installed correctly into the printer and is fully inserted.

NOTE:  The printer must be manually told a new toner cartridge has been installed.  When the top cover is closed after installing the new toner cartridge, the message is NEW TONER CARTRIDGE=NO message is displayed on the control panel for approximately 30 seconds. To reset the HP TonerGauge:

1 Press – VALUE + until YES appears.

2 Press SELECT to save the selection.

3 Press GO to exit the menu.

If the NEW TONER CARTRIDGE=NO message is no longer displayed on the control panel, press MENU repeatedly until CONFIGURATION MENU  appears. When you replace an empty or low toner cartridge, press ITEM repeatedly until NEW TONER CARTRIDGE=NO appears.

Print Quality Issues

There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be removed prior to installation.  It is important that this pull tape seal is completely removed.  If the cartridge is printing blank pages then the pull tape seal probably hasn’t been removed or broke off inside the cartridge while being pulled.

Rotate the cartridge and gently shake it from side to side to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.

The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the toner cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic shutter.  Lift the shutter to view the OPC drum.  Do NOT touch the drum.  Visually inspect the OPC drum for damage or debris.  A soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently wipe the drum.  Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
