THIS IS A TONER THAT HAS THE OPC DRUM BUILT INTO THE CARTRIDGE ITSELF AND IS REPLACED AS ONE WHOLE UNIT. THERE IS NO SEPARATE DRUM UNIT.
This toner is the same as the Canon L50 with the exception of the location of the fin on the top of the cartridge.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridge for your specific printer model.
There’s a fin on the top of the cartridge that hits a spot in the printer when installed to let the printer know a cartridge is installed. Check to make sure this fin has not broken off.
This cartridge does not have a chip. It does not track the page count or give a courtesy warning when the toner is low. Instead, the User’s Guide recommends replacing the toner when the prints are extremely light or there are white lines in the print and gently rocking the toner doesn’t help.
Check to make sure the cartridge is correctly installed and firmly in place.
Print Quality Issues
There is a pull tape seal on the side of the cartridge that must be fully removed before installation. Ensure that this pull tape seal has been completely removed.
You can also try gently rocking the cartridge left to right a few times to ensure the toner powder inside the cartridge is evenly distributed.
The OPC drum is located on the bottom of the cartridge protected by a spring loaded plastic cover. To view the OPC drum, gently move the plastic cover up. Do NOT touch the OPC drum. Visually check for any damage or debris. You can use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the drum. Do NOT use moisture of any kind.
