THESE CARTRIDGES DO NOT HAVE THE OPC DRUM UNIT INTEGRATED. THE DRUM UNIT IS A SEPARATE, REPLACEABLE, MAINTENANCE ITEM.
Not Recognizing
Verify you have the correct cartridges for your specific model printer.
There is a smart chip located on the bottom of the cartridge. Check the chip for damage or debris. A clean, dry, lint-free cloth can be used to gently clean the gold contacts.
There is a clear plastic cover on the bottom of the cartridge which has a piece of foam to keep the toner powder from leaking. This plastic cover must be removed prior to installation or it will block the chip from making contact. Be careful once the plastic cover is removed as the cartridge will be open at this point and it’s possible for toner powder to leak out the hole on the bottom side of the cartridge.
Make sure that the cartridge is installed fully into the printer and is installed correctly. Grasp the toner cartridge and align it with the corresponding slot inside the printer. Insert it into its slot until it clicks into place.
Verify that you are installing the correct color into the correct color slot. The color order from left to right is Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black.
Print Quality Issues
Ghosting, lines, streaks, and repeating image defects are drum related issues. The drum unit is separate and replaceable; the drum unit will usually need replacing after 4-6 toner changes. We do not currently carry a replacement drum unit.
Holding the toner cartridge, thoroughly roll it 5 or 6 times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge. Be sure to have the plastic protective cap reinstalled or cover the hole on the bottom side of the cartridge before rolling the cartridge or toner powder will leak from the hole.
Check the outputted pages to see where the image defect is occurring. Try to see if there is a pattern with the defect and a particular color.
Leaking
The clear plastic cover has foam on the inside which covers the hole at the bottom side of the cartridge where the toner powder comes out. It’s possible during shipping that some toner powder may leak, this is normal. Once the clear plastic cover is removed it is very possible toner powder will leak from the hole on the cartridge. Care should be taken in handling the cartridge. Never use moisture of any kind on a toner cartridge.
